Baby Hahn // Maternity

Nikki and I met while working together in Lincoln.   Right away we found that we were each other’s lifelines while working in the office – we emailed, made frequent trips to the breakroom together, and I was constantly going back to her desk for a little break and chat time with that row of coworkers!   I eventually got married and moved to western Nebraska, then Nikki got married and moved to northeast Nebraska.   When we moved to Norfolk and I found out Nikki was pregnant, I couldn’t wait to document her sweet little bun in the oven.

Nikki’s journey to motherhood didn’t come without heartache.  Her and her husband, Colton, faced the heartache of two miscarriages.   She told me when we got together that she didn’t know if she wanted to keep trying because she didn’t know if she could go through it again.   God had other plans for them.   In the course of her heartbreaking journey Nikki spoke out about her losses – in fact, she wrote a book so that other women who have gone through or are going through the same battle will realize they aren’t alone and its ok to talk about it.   Thank you, Nikki for being so brave.  Thank you for being vulnerable and transparent in your struggle.    I encourage all of you to go out and buy Nikki’s wonderful book, A Surrogate For Heaven.  You can purchase her book here.

We can’t wait for the day Baby Hahn enters the world and you and Colton hold her in your arms for the first time!
